Who can apply for a Birth Certificate?

A certificate can be issued to:

The person whose birth is registered
A person whose name appears as a parent on the registration of the birth
A guardian of the person whose birth is registered (custodial guardians must provide a copy of guardianship papers)
A person who has written authorization from a person described above.

Service Options:

Regular Service

Choose this option to receive your certificate within the province's regular delivery time of 3 to 4 weeks.
Once we have received your completed application, we will process it for you using the standard government procedure.
In all cases, your birth certificate will be sent by Express Post/Courier to you as soon as the province has completed processing.

24-Hour Service

24-Hour service is available for an additional fee.
Certificate processing will be completed within 24 hours.
In all cases, your birth certificate will be sent by Express Post/Courier to you as soon as the province has completed processing.
