Death Certificate: Contains the individual’s full name, gender, date of death, place of death, place of birth, resident province, state or country, registration number, and date of registration.
Certified Copy of Death Registration: This is a photocopy of the actual death registration (does not contain the cause of death). It is legally the most complete document. The photocopy is certified as a true copy of the original.

Who Can Apply For a Death Certificate?

Death Certificates may be released to:

A spouse, child, parent or sibling of the deceased
The executor or administrator of the estate of the deceased
• A person who has written authorization from a person described above

Once we have received your completed application, we will process it for you using the standard government procedure.
In all cases, your marriage or death certificate will be mailed to you as soon as the province has completed processing.

Expedited service is available for an additional fee.
Certificate processing will be completed within 24 hours.
